The New Spiderman - Box Office Smash? or Flop?

Hello Fellow Bloggers!

For this week's post I would like to briefly explore the concept of re-using super heros in new feature films. The very last time that the world viewed a movie featuring Spiderman was back in 2009. Already, a new feature film about Spiderman will be debuted this summer. The main question on everybody's minds is: "Is it too soon?" It has only been a mere five years since we last saw this hero. The argument, however, is that this time Spiderman will be appearing as a much darker figure than he was last represented. I have heard through word of mouth that this film is to be geared towards the same concepts applied to Batman and The Dark Knight. Unfortunately, I can't help but think that this is a major attempt by the large studios to make even more money off of this masked hero. There have been many mixed feelings surrounding the topic on if this will be a hit or bust. I am very eager to see the outcome as I am interested to see what factors and elements were considered before production began. In addition to, I would like to explore on if whether the name "Spiderman" generates attention due to it's past history. What are your thoughts?

Hollywood Madness

Hello There! Welcome to The BIZNESS in Hollywood blog. My name is Thomas Buzzello and I am currently a full-time student at Full Sail University majoring in Entertainment Business. In addition to being in school, I am also a full-time employee of a company specializing in digital media quality assurance. In industry terms, it is post, postproduction. Now, the purpose of this blog is to mainly be a resource for writers, directors, producers and actors, of all ages, to come together and share their opinions on current and past trends within television and film. What is about the plot of a story that attracts so many viewers? What certain aspects of daily life are most appealing to audiences? Is there a way to measure the likeability of “dark” themed productions such as Dexter, Six Feet Under and True Blood? These are just a few of the many questions I would like to explore. For instance, the recent box office smash, The Avengers, took in more than $200 million opening weekend. Is this because of good marketing, the overall popularity of marvel comics, or due to the storyline? This is the main goal of this blog. So once again, Welcome!
